DRILL LA

Producer, Editor, Cinematographer

Created as part of my senior thesis project, DRILL LA is a five-part video series which examines the environmental justice implications of oil drilling in Los Angeles. Embedded where people live, work and play; oil-sites threaten the long term health of Los Angelenos, disproportionately impacting low-income and minority communities.  The project includes short-form videos and interactive clickable "experiences" embedded into the website drillla.com.

The Process

Research - Film - Design - Code

Drill LA was created using a variety of skill sets: filmmaking, design, coding and research. Before building the project, I carried out extensive research on the environmental implications of oil drilling: interviewing over ten experts and residents impacted by drilling and gathering data from academic studies.  I filmed and edited the videos using Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects, while I used Illustrator and Photoshop to design the graphics. The interactive elements of the project were created using the platform Wix as well as the Javascript coding platform Processing. The finished product was displayed in a gallery exhibit at USC in May, 2018.
